Please Help African Orphans Living in Poverty

During my recent trip to Kenya I volunteered in a children's center that provides education and meals to the impoverished children in the village. While I was there I fell in love with a little girl named Rose.

Rose is a very bright and loving twelve year old who lives in the town of Rongai just outside of Nairobi, Kenya. She has twelve brothers and sisters between the ages of 4 and 17. They all live together with their mother and grandmother in a small one-room shanty with no electricity or running water.

Rose's grandmother is unable to work and her mother earns a small salary as a waitress, but they struggle each day to provide food for all their boys and girls. They rely mostly on donations and Rose was fortunate enough to find someone to sponsor her so she is able to attend secondary school, but the family still has to find money for uniforms, school supplies, clothing, and other basic necessities that we all take for granted each day.

When I left Africa, I made a promise to Rose and to myself that I would do everything in my power to give Rose and her family a better life, to help lift them out of poverty. The family requires $420.00 each month for groceries, and because young kids grow so fast they are in desperate need of good-quality clothing and shoes, which fortunately, can be passed along to other siblings. My ultimate goal is to buy the family a house with running water and electricity which would cost approximately $50,000.

I have direct contact with Rose and her family through a very good friend I made while I was in Kenya. She is a social worker at the children's center and she hand delivers all the packages I send and does the grocery shopping with the money I wire over.

Unfortuantely I can't do this all by myself - that's why I need your help. I've created this page to accept online donations applied to the specific and most pressing needs of Rose's family. No matter how small your donation, you will be helping this family escape poverty and providing them with the important knowledge that someone still cares. Rose loves going to school and has so many hopes and dreams for her future - please donate and help me to make her dreams come true.
